NYC industrial businesses are mostly small, with 90% of the businesses in every sub-sector employing less than 100 people. In construction, manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, and waste management, over 50% of the businesses are micro, with less than 5 employees.

Most Industrial Businesses are Renters

The majority of NYC industrial businesses rent. This puts businesses at risk of displacement and limits their ability to invest in their space due to uncertainty of lease renewal.

Average annual manufacturing salaries pay nearly $20,000 more than retail, and nearly twice as much as food/beverage annual salaries.
